WATCH: Penn State converts trick punt after Michigan burns timeout

Although it was early in the game, Penn State head coach James Franklin had an early last laugh at Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh. The game’s opening series saw Penn State convert a fake punt, with punter Jordan Stout passing to Curtis Jacobs. This resulted in a gain of 18 yards.

The kicker? Michigan set a timeout before the fake punt. Harbaugh and the Wolverines reportedly saw something that suggested that a fake punt was being attempted.

Penn State’s first drive ended with a 42-yard field kick by Stout just a few minutes later. This was the start of the game’s first points. Sean Clifford, Penn State’s quarterback, was fired a few times. He had to make some plays under pressure as the game progressed for the battle in trenches. Point son, the board is better that no points.
