NFL reporter Aditi Khabwala reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers’ star outside linebacker T.J. Watt is very close to agreeing to terms on a huge new contract extension.
The Steelers personal deadline is only a few days away and the sides will not be able to negotiate contracts for the remainder of the season. This little song and dance has been going on all offseason by Watt and Steelers. Watt has remained away from all preseason activities, but has been visible during practice and stayed with the team.
Watt could be the highest-paid NFL defensive player, whether he plays with the Steelers or another team. Watt was the NFL’s leader in 2020 sacks with 15. He has 49.5 total sacks during his four NFL seasons.
Will Watt or the Steelers come up with a compromise before the deadline? If Watt is granted an extension, let us know by commenting.
