The general manager Sam Presti stated that all players are vaccinated.
Last season, the Thunder remained relatively healthy in regards to COVID-19. While a few games were delayed due to outbreaks of opposing teams, none were due to OKC outbreaks or cases.
Presti said he recognizes there will be continued difficulties around the league with COVID-19 and its delta variant.
The disruptions, in my opinion, will be caused by the fact that the NBA doesn’t test players or staff members.” he stated. “Organizationally we will be monitoring our staff. Although we won’t be doing this every day, we will be monitoring our basketball staff to prevent any outbreaks .”
The Thunder will require players entering Paycom Center to have their coronavirus tests done within 72 hours.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported 90% of NBA players are fully vaccinated and the percentage has risen as training camp approached.
While the NBA doesn’t require vaccines, certain cities have requirements that would prohibit unvaccinated players from playing. For instance, the San Francisco Department of Public Health ordered that anyone aged 12 and older must be vaccinated to attend large indoor gatherings.
