Heat rookie Micah Potter showing upside in preseason after double-double
Erik Spoelstra,

Miami Heat’s head coach, praised rookie Micah Potter in particular for his physicality as well as his ability to rebound on Thursday following a loss to Atlanta Hawks.

Potter recorded 16 points, 16 rebounds and one assist in 29 minutes of work off of the bench, his second double-double effort of the preseason. He converted on 6-of-14 shot attempts from the field, including 2-of-6 from 3-point range.

His first double-double came on Oct. 8 with 13 points and 17 rebounds in a win over the San Antonio Spurs. He now leads the rookie class in double-doubles and rebounding during the preseason, two areas that have impressed the Heat.

Spoelstra stated that Potter has shown some upside in the preseason.

He is a good rebounder. He has a natural talent for the ball. He is a physical player with an uncanny knack for the ball. I believe he will become more technical and better understand our defensive system. He can stretch the floor offensively. He can dribble handoffs well. He has demonstrated some upside in the system he uses.

Potter signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Heat and will spend the upcoming season in the NBA G League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Potter could be next to reap the benefits of their development efforts in Sioux Falls. The Heat have been a huge success.

Potter can refine his game and learn the Heat’s system with a season in G League. The Heat should be proud of the positive things he has done in the preseason.

Miami wraps up the preseason on Friday versus the Boston Celtics.
