The King of Swaziland, King Mswati III has officially declared that starting from June 2019, it’s mandatory for men to marry more than two women otherwise, they will spend some time in prison.
This sounds funny but it’s not a fiction at all- the King is not happy that there are several unmarried women scattered across the length and breath of the country/Kingdom.
Besides, the King Mswati also noted that there are more women than men in Swaziland which he says could cause serious problems for the country in a long run.
Interestingly, the King himself 15 wives and 25 children, while his father and predecessor has more than 70 wives and over 150 children.
In a statement, King Mswati called for all men in the country to marry at least five wives and the government assured the men that it would pay for the marriage ceremonies and buy houses for them.
Swaziland, a small, landlocked monarchy in southern Africa, is known for its wilderness reserves and festivals showcasing traditional Swazi culture.
Marking its northeastern border with Mozambique and stretching down to South Africa, the Lebombo Mountains are a backdrop for Mlawula Nature Reserve’s many hiking trails.
