Pope Francis urging Sudanese to maintain peace and order humbly knelt and kissed the feet of Sudanese leaders after a retreat at the Vatican on Thursday, April 11, 2019.
The Pope, who is obviously worried about how hard it has become to maintain peace in South Sudan pleaded with them not to return to civil war since it has caused the death of millions of Sudanese.
He urged rebel leader, Riek Machar, and 3 other vice presidents to stick by any peace agreement they’ve signed and commit to forming a unity government in May 2019.
Pope Francis said, “I am asking you as a brother to stay in peace. I am asking you with my heart, let us go forward. There will be many problems but they will not overcome us. Resolve your problems”.
