The Indianapolis Colts placed quarterback Carson Wentz, center Ryan Kelly and wide receiver Zach Pascal on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Monday.
It is not clear if any of these three were close contacts or positive tests. However, they will all be out at the least this week. If they do test positive, they may miss some practice before the Week 1 opener against Seattle Seahawks.
Wentz was set to see his first reps since his foot surgery. He would have had a difficult week to prepare for the Seahawks, but now it seems that he may be even further behind than expected.
Second year quarterback Jacob Eason will replace Wenntz.
Kelly missed training camp due to an elbow injury, but has been back in the last few weeks. Danny Pinter will likely replace Kelly at center. Pascal has been an integral part of the passing offense, and will likely be even more after T.Y. Hilton’s injury.
It will be interesting to see how this impacts Week 1, but these players won’t be on the field for this week’s practices.
