Bills expect Isaiah McKenzie back for opener vs. Steelers

The Buffalo Bills expect to hire wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie when the 2021season begins this week.

According to Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott, this Tuesday via web conference , McKenzie will be a full-fledged week. To kick off the regular season, the Bills will host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

After colliding with safety Jordan Poyer at a training camp practice, McKenzie sustained a neck injury . McKenzie, 26, was then seen at the ensuing practices wearing a shoulder strap.

On offense McKenzie was a regular out of the slot for Bills in the preseason. He’d be behind Cole Beasley on Sunday, however. McKenzie was a gadget player in the past. He has rushed and even thrown the ball.

On special team, McKenzie will be the Bills’ first return man. In the preseason, rookie Marquez Stephenson was the team’s only returner option.

Since assembling their final roster, Stevenson was placed on the injured reserves list and will need to spend at most three weeks there.

Stevenson sustained a foot injury in Buffalo’s preseason match against the Chicago Bears.

McDermott announced that Star Lotulelei (calf), a defensive tackle, will not participate in Tuesday’s practice. The coach expects Lotulelei to be in the Steelers’ starting line-up.

Cornerback Taron John (hand) is also available to play this week.
