Bengals’ D’Ante Smith to IR, needs surgery for torn meniscus

Cincinnati Bengals’ rookie guard D’AnteSmith will be placed on injured reserve to undergo surgery to repair his torn meniscus.

It’s an amazing turn of events for fourth-round rookie. Looked like he would get his first career start earlier this week, while fellow rookie Jackson Carman sat idle on the COVID List.

Reporting back to Friday, Smith missed 2 days of practice due to a knee injury. Carman has been activated and is ready to play on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. According to ESPN’s Ben Baby ., Zac Taylor confirmed that Smith had suffered an injury and underwent surgery.

Smith is a promising prospect with high-upside potential who may just have starter potential. He will be available through at least the next month’s byeweek.

For Week 6, if Carman is unable to go, Trey Hill will take the starting position at right guard.
